Approved locations for Tutoring:
- Bailey Library (Rockland)
- Moseley 100 Classroom (Rockland)
- The Music Annex (Rockland)
- Eastman Library – Group Study Room (Manhattan)
Requesting Additional Tutoring Hours
Tutees in need of additional tutoring hours will be required to submit a Requesting Additional Tutoring Hours form to the Tutoring Center. Once the form is submitted, it will be processed by the Tutor Coordinator. An email will be sent to the tutee informing her or him about the decision. Tutees can receive up to two (2) additional hours for the week.
Rescheduling Tutoring Sessions
Both tutor and tutee are responsible for the rescheduling of tutoring sessions. However, the tutee must inform the Tutoring Center that a session has been rescheduled by submitting the Rescheduling Session form. This form must be submitted prior to the regular scheduled session or within 6-hours after the initial scheduled session. Tutees must explain why the session was rescheduled.
Cancellation of Tutoring Services
Tutees, who wish to no longer utilize the resources of the Tutoring Center, must complete the “Cancellation of Tutoring Services” form.
Tutoring During Finals
The Tutor Center does not provide tutoring services during Finals Week. All tutoring sessions are concluded the last day before the commencement of finals.
Tutors and tutees are to inform their tutees that they are to provide a 6-hour notice of cancellation. Tutees who fail to attend their tutoring sessions and fail to cancel their appointments before 6-hours’ notice will be placed on warning.
Tutors are expected to complete the No Show form for any of their students who did not attend a scheduled session.
The following are the Warning Levels:
- Level 1 Warning
Tutees who failed to attend one tutoring session and failed to cancel their appointment 6-hours in advance with their tutor. These tutees will receive an email from the Tutoring Center, informing them that they are being placed on Level 1 Warning and are in danger of losing their tutoring privileges.
- Level 2 Warning (Tutoring Privileges Suspension)
Tutees who failed to attend two consecutive tutoring sessions and failed to cancel their appointment 6-hours in advance with their tutor. These tutees will receive an email from the Tutoring Center, informing them that they are being placed on Level 2 Warning. Tutees will be asked to schedule a meeting with the Tutor Coordinator to discuss their commitment and usage of the Tutor Center’s resources. Before this is done, all tutoring sessions are placed on hold.
- Level 3 Warning (Tutoring Privileges Revoked for the Semester)
Tutees who failed to attend three consecutive tutoring sessions and failed to cancel their appointment 6-hours in advance with their tutor. These tutees will receive an email from the Tutoring Center, informing them that they are being placed on Level 3 Warning. All tutoring privileges will be revoked for that semester. Tutees can appeal by submitting a written letter to the Tutor Coordinator, informing why they violated the tutoring policies and how they intend to adhere to the policies and usage of the Tutoring Center’s resources.
NCAA Athletic Absences
All Nyack College Athletes are to comply with the policies and procedures detailed in the Tutor Handbook. This includes athletes who are tutors and who are being tutored.
Athletes who receive tutoring are excused when they have a scheduled NCAA competition at home or away. However, he or she must still complete the Reschedule Appointment form for the absence to be approved.
